frequently asked questions

  • What is a paramotor and or a paraglider?

Paramotor also known as Powered paragliding, it is considered as probably the easiest form of unrestricted human flight and currently is the lightest aircraft known to humans.

it is a relatively new sport that consist of a paraglider (a soft non rigid wing that looks similar to the new parachutes) and a motor with a propeller strapped to the back of the pilot.

There are two branches in the sport: Paragliding and Paramotoring. In the case of paragliding the pilot is strapped only to a paraglider via safety harness. The paraglider pilot doesn`t use a motor, so he needs to run downhill from a slope or mountain in order to take off. Than he glides away and searches for currents in the air, such as hot air raising or winds reflecting of the side of a mountain to gain altitudes and to fly across distances. The flight time in the case of paragliding depends on the weather conditions and from the pilot skills.

The paramotor is when you use the paraglider, but also add a motor strapped to the back of the pilot. This gives the pilot an advantage that he can now take off virtually from almost anywhere, from the beach, the street, from fields or from a mountain. The flying time now do not depends that much of the weather conditions as the motor produces thrust and keeps the paraglider flying even on a perfectly calm days. Some paramotors have autonomy for about 4 hours of flight time on a single gas tank(about 10-12l regular gasoline).

  • What is a paramotor tandem flight?

The tandem flights are intended to give a first hand aerial view and instructions to people who want to experience the birds eye perspective and learn about the sport. You will be our student pilot for a day. The passenger is strapped in a safety harness in front of the tandem pilot who operates the aircraft.  The take offs and landings are usually from the beach or a grassy field in front of the ocean. The passenger and the pilot than run for a few meters into the wind and take off, just like an airplane.

  • Is it scary? How high we will fly?

This is different with each individual, but since the take off is from flat surface and you and your pilot will slowly gain the altitude, most people feel comfortable after the first few minutes of the initial excitement when leaving the floor. The altitudes that can be achieved on a tandem flights are between 100m-3000m (300ft-6000ft)above sea level, but to really enjoy the amazing scenery, the flights are held at altitudes of between 5m-600m(about15ft- 1800ft)above sea level. The flights are very calm and relaxing, suitable for most people. For the adrenaline seeker, the tandem pilot can induce a few mild aerobatic maneuvers.

  • Is it safe? What happens if the engine stop working?

The paramotor flights are considered to be safer than riding a motorcycle. As mentioned before, the paraglider can glide without a motor, so if the engine quits, the pilot and the passenger will just glide down to a safe landing spot. Obviously, the paramotor flying, like any other aerial activities do have inherent risks. It is outdoors sport and signing a liability release waiver is required. Our team takes the utmost care in checking the weather conditions and also revising the gear before and after each fligh to make sure each and every flight is as safe as possible. The tandem pilots have years of experience flying paragliders. Flights will be canceled if the weather conditions get too strong. But, thanks to the specific terrain configurations near Puerto Vallarta, the weather is almost always very stable.

  • What are the requirements?

The paramotor is a great and super fun sport, accessible to anyone who like to experience the feeling of a human flight. If you can run for a few meters, than you are fit for a tandem flight. Kids between 14-18 years of age need a written parent permission and everyone needs to sign a liability release form. Tennis or good running shoes is a must. It is recommended to hydrate well before the flight and use sunblocks. Personal cameras are ok, but for safety reasons they will stay with your friends or the crew on the ground.

You can meet with the crew at the agreed takeoff location or if it is a smaller group than we can pick you up. After the intro briefing, you will be strapped to your harness and prepare for the flight. Helmets with noise reduction and communication with the pilot will be provided. The flight duration is about 25mins. The flight is calm, scenic glide over the jungle and over the ocean, than fly lower and cruse just a few meters above and along the beach. For the daredevils, the pilot can do a few mild acrobatic maneuvers to spice up the whole experience! The landing is on the beach.
